How it works
Two things make a marketplace like this worth using: the person who turns up is who they said they were, and the price you agreed is the price you pay. Everything below serves one of those two.
Before anyone appears on Safiri
They apply, and they are not yet listed
A guide or driver signs up in Safiri Partner and uploads their documents. Until the next step finishes they cannot be searched for and cannot take a booking. There is no provisional state in which you might be sent someone unchecked.
We confirm each document with whoever issued it
A tour guide licence against the Tourism Regulatory Authority. A PSV badge against NTSA, and the passenger insurance behind it. A certificate of good conduct from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations. A person reads each one. Nothing is automatic.
Expiry dates are tracked from then on
The quiet failure in this industry is a licence that lapsed two years ago and nobody noticed. Safiri records every renewal date and takes people out of search the day a document expires.
Booking
You pick what you actually want to do
Guides list their own services at their own prices: a full day, a half day, an airport run, three days in the Mara. Each says how long it takes, how many people it takes, and what the price does not cover.
You request, and the guide accepts
Nothing is charged before they accept. Once they do, the two of you can message each other about where to meet.
On the day, you both confirm you have met
The app shares location only while the trip is running, and only between the two of you. It stops when the booking ends.
You pay your guide, not a middleman
For now you pay your guide directly, the way you agree together. Safiri does not take or hold your money. You see the full price, and what it leaves out, before you request.
What we take
Nothing, while you pay your guide directly. You are shown the full price before you request, and nothing is added afterwards. If that changes, this page will say so first.
What we do not control
Park and reserve entry fees are set by Kenya Wildlife Service and by county governments, and they are revised seasonally. We list them so they do not surprise you, but we cannot change them and we do not collect them. They are paid at the gate.
